In a swift and commendable operation, Jagadgirigutta Police, in coordination with the SOT Balanagar Team, arrested four individuals involved in the brutal murder of a man in broad daylight at Goodwill Hotel, Yellammabanda. The deceased, identified as Mahaboob (40), a resident of Musheerabad and native of Karnataka, was attacked and killed in what appears to be a premeditated act of revenge over a financial dispute.
The Incident
On August 5, 2025, at around 4:00 PM, the accused Syed Fazel, accompanied by six others, met Mahaboob at Goodwill Hotel in Yellammabanda. An argument reportedly broke out over a long-standing debt. In the altercation, one of the accused—wearing a white shirt and pants—attacked Mahaboob (who was wearing a black shirt) with a knife, striking him on the head. As Mahaboob collapsed, Fazel and two others repeatedly stabbed him with knives, leading to his death on the spot. The assailants fled the scene after confirming his demise. Two companions of the deceased managed to escape.
A case was promptly registered at Jagadgirigutta Police Station under Cr. No. 796/2025 U/s 103 r/w 3 (5) BNS, and an intensive investigation was launched.
Investigation and Arrest
With the guidance of senior officers and the leadership of ACP Balanagar Division, P. Naresh Reddy, the investigation team analyzed CCTV footage and identified the suspects. On August 6 at 3:10 PM, the police apprehended the accused at RRR Wines, Allwyn Colony. The arrested individuals were interrogated, during which they confessed to their involvement in the crime.
Motive Behind the Murder
According to police, the murder stemmed from a monetary dispute. Five years ago, Syed Fazel and his brother had reportedly lent ₹11 lakhs to Mahaboob. Despite multiple demands, Mahaboob refused to return the money and allegedly threatened to kill Fazel if he persisted.
Frustrated and fearing for his safety, Fazel, along with his nephew Syed Jahangir and two of Jahangir’s friends—Shaik Kareem and Shaik Ameer—hatched a plan to eliminate Mahaboob. On the pretext of a meeting, they lured him to Yellammabanda, where the fatal attack was carried out.
